THE QUICKSTART

Set up with
confidence.

Give yourself a few quiet minutes. Keep your device, a trusted computer or phone, and the USB cable nearby. Your wallet is created on the device itself—your recovery phrase should never be typed into a website or app.

Check your device

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Unbox your Trezor and look it over. Your device should not arrive with a pre-written recovery phrase, PIN, or wallet already set up. If anything looks tampered with or unusual, do not use it; contact Trezor Support through trezor.io/support.

Only use the official cable or a reliable data cable. Avoid public computers and shared devices for setup. If your device came from somewhere other than an authorized source, take extra care to confirm its authenticity using Trezor’s official guidance.

02

Install Trezor Suite

OFFICIAL SOFTWARE

Visit trezor.io/trezor-suite by typing the address yourself or using a bookmark you trust. Download Trezor Suite for your operating system, then install and open it. Suite is the companion app for managing your wallet, viewing accounts, and securely interacting with your device.

Check the address carefully before downloading. Sponsored search results, lookalike domains, pop-ups, and unsolicited messages can lead to counterfeit software. Trezor will never ask you to reveal your recovery seed to install an update.

Connect and initialize

ON YOUR DEVICE

Connect your Trezor to your computer or phone and follow the prompts in Suite. If prompted, install or update the device firmware using the official app. Firmware installation may restart the device; keep it connected and follow the on-screen instructions.

Choose the option to create a new wallet if this is your first setup. Confirm important actions on the Trezor itself. The device screen is the trusted place to review sensitive details—do not approve an action you did not start or do not understand.

04

Back up your wallet

MOST IMPORTANT

Your Trezor will display a recovery seed (also called a wallet backup). Carefully write each word in its exact order on the supplied backup card or another durable offline medium. Follow your device’s instructions to verify the words. Take your time and check spelling and order.

Keep the backup private and stored somewhere secure, separate from your device. Never photograph it, save it in a notes app or cloud drive, email it, or enter it on a website. Anyone with the words can control the wallet, even without your Trezor.

✓
YOU’RE IN CONTROL

Make it yours.

Once setup is complete, Suite will guide you into your wallet. Take a moment to get comfortable before moving any funds. The first transaction can wait until you know what each prompt means.

01

Choose a PIN

If your device offers PIN protection, set a PIN you can remember but others cannot easily guess. Keep it private and enter it only when prompted by your own device.

02

Verify every address

When receiving funds, compare the full address shown in Suite with the address displayed on your Trezor screen. A matching first and last few characters is not enough.

03

Start with a test

Before sending a large amount, consider a small test transaction. Confirm the network, recipient, and amount on the device screen each time.

KEEP YOUR WALLET SAFE

Three rules worth
remembering.

01

Your seed is your secret

Never share your recovery seed. Legitimate support will never request it. Treat any request—by chat, email, phone, or website—as a scam.

02

Trust the device screen

Review addresses, amounts, and actions on your physical Trezor before confirming. Your computer display alone is not enough for sensitive approvals.

03

Use official channels

Type official web addresses yourself and get software only from Trezor. Ignore urgent messages and links that ask you to “synchronize” or “validate” your wallet.

A FEW QUICK ANSWERS

Need a little
more clarity?

Keep your recovery seed offline and your device close by as you work through setup.

What if I already have a recovery seed?

If you are restoring an existing wallet, select the recovery option in Suite and follow the exact instructions shown on your Trezor. Never type your seed into a computer or phone. If you are unsure whether a backup belongs to you or whether it is safe, pause and consult official Trezor Support before proceeding.

Do I need to keep my Trezor connected?

No. Your device does not need to stay connected to hold your wallet. Your assets are recorded on their respective blockchains; the Trezor protects the keys used to authorize transactions. Disconnect it when you are finished and store it securely.

What happens if my Trezor is lost or damaged?

Your recovery seed is the backup that lets you restore access using a compatible wallet. That is why protecting it matters so much. Keep the words legible, private, and safe from fire, water, and unauthorized access. Do not store the seed together with your device.

Should I update the firmware?

Use the firmware update prompts inside the official Trezor Suite and follow the device’s instructions. Before an update or any maintenance, make sure you have a safe, verified backup. Never install firmware from an unofficial website or follow update links from unsolicited messages.

A STRONG START

Ownership begins
with a small step.

Set aside the time, follow your device’s prompts, and keep your recovery seed to yourself. When you’re ready, open the official Trezor Suite and begin.
